CHENNAI, Sept 2: IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation and SWAYAM Plus, an initiative of the Union Education Ministry, have launched the Multi-Cloud Foundation with Security Programme. It combines conceptual learning with hands-on application, enabling learners to understand how common cloud concepts translate across the three major cloud providers.
It is designed to equip students, graduates, and working professionals with foundational and practical skills across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), along with dedicated training in cloud security. The programme is delivered online through LIVE sessions, and it allows learners to interact with the faculty. Since the programme involves an immersive experience on the IIT Madras campus, the batch size is limited.
The deadline to apply for the first batch, which begins on 10th September 2026, is 9th September 2026. Registrations can be done through https://swayamplus.education.gov.in/courses/multi-cloud-foundation-with-security-programme
The programme is intended for individuals interested in pursuing a career in cloud computing, including students, graduates, working professionals, and aspiring technology professionals. Prior knowledge of basic infrastructure concepts, such as CPU, memory, networking, and TCP/IP, is recommended. The top 5% of the performers in the course will receive placement support.
Highlighting the need for such training programs, Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, said, “Every time an organisation moves to the cloud, its risks grow faster than its skills. Teaching engineers to build applications on the cloud without teaching them to secure them is a gap we need to address immediately. This programme gives learners a strong foundation across multiple cloud ecosystems while providing practical exposure to the security considerations that are increasingly important in modern cloud environments. The IIT Madras campus immersion further adds an experiential dimension to the learning journey.”
‘THREAT DETECTION, IDENTITY HARDENING, ENCRYPTION’
The 100-hour programme follows a vendor-neutral approach, introducing core cloud concepts before demonstrating how they are implemented across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. Learners also gain hands-on exposure through practical labs and a dedicated cloud security module covering areas such as threat detection, identity hardening, encryption, compliance and incident response.
As part of the programme, learners will also have the opportunity to participate in an immersive learning experience at the IIT Madras campus, providing exposure to an academic and technology-driven environment and enabling them to engage more closely with the programme’s learning ecosystem.
Prof. R. Sarathi, Dean (Planning), IIT Madras and Coordinator of SWAYAM Plus, said, “By bringing together AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and cloud security in one structured programme, we aim to help learners build a broader and more future-ready technology skill set.”
BUILDING MULTI-CLOUD AND SECURITY SKILLS
As organisations increasingly adopt multiple cloud platforms, professionals need skills that extend beyond a single technology ecosystem. The programme provides a structured foundation across:
⮚Cloud computing and multi-cloud concepts
⮚AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud
⮚Compute, storage and networking
⮚Identity and access management
⮚Database services and cloud cost management
⮚Multi-cloud architecture and practical applications
⮚Cloud security, threat detection and incident response
⮚Encryption, compliance and security monitoring
Beyond online learning, the programme brings learners closer to the IIT Madras ecosystem through an immersive campus experience. The immersion is designed to complement the online curriculum by providing learners with an opportunity to experience the IIT Madras campus and engage with a technology-focused learning environment.
This combination of online multi-cloud learning, hands-on practice, and campus immersion provides learners with a more comprehensive learning experience as they build their foundations in cloud computing and security.
BUILDING INDIA’S CLOUD TALENT
Learners develop hands-on skills across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, along with foundational cloud security capabilities. The programme also provides a pathway towards foundational certifications across the three major cloud platforms.
India’s expanding digital economy is creating opportunities across cloud infrastructure, technology services, cybersecurity and digital platforms. The Multi-Cloud Foundation with Security Programme brings together multi-cloud learning, practical exposure, security fundamentals and an IIT Madras campus immersion to help learners build capabilities aligned with evolving industry needs.
