India, Aug 28: On the momentous occasion of National Sports Day, Rabindranath Tagore University will host the prestigious national initiative ‘Khelo India Samvad’ on August 27, 2026. During the event, the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, will deliver a special virtual address to more than 1,500 emerging athletes, students, and young leaders across diverse regional hubs.

The announcement was formally made during a press conference held on the RNTU campus, led by Dr. Aditi Chaturvedi Vats, Pro-Chancellor, RNTU; Ms. Monika Chaudhary, Deputy Director, Mera Yuva Bharat , Raisen; and Dr. Sangeeta Jauhari, Registrar, RNTU.
The primary objective of ‘Khelo India Samvad’ is to integrate youth into mainstream sports, provide strategic insights into the rapidly evolving national sports ecosystem, and mobilize youth leadership toward nation-building and the realization of a Viksit Bharat.
A key highlight of the proceedings will be the Prime Minister’s interactive digital address with the country’s rising athletic talent. The session will feature curated excerpts from his Independence Day address, underscoring the revolutionary advancements and infrastructural momentum currently empowering India’s sporting landscape.
Organized by Mera Yuva Bharat under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, in active partnership with RNTU, the event will serve as a high-impact forum to promote grassroots sports culture, holistic physical fitness, and youth-led development.
“‘Khelo India Samvad’ provides a transformative platform to channel youth energy into nation-building through the medium of sports,” stated Dr. Aditi Chaturvedi Vats, Pro-Chancellor, Rabindranath Tagore University. “The visionary address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will ignite fresh ambition among our students and athletes, opening unprecedented horizons in professional athletics. RNTU is deeply honored to host this landmark initiative, and we remain steadfast in ensuring maximum youth engagement.”
Detailing the district-level roadmap, Ms. Monika Chaudhary, Deputy Director, Mera Yuva Bharat (Raisen), noted that the Raisen chapter of the event will convene student delegates, athletes, youth volunteers, sports enthusiasts, administrative officials, and public representatives. Following the Prime Minister’s virtual address, the university will conduct an on-ground physical symposium where delegates will exchange ideas and deliberate on policy recommendations concerning sports, fitness, and national progress.
“The objective extends beyond mere athletic participation; it is about cultivating character, resilience, leadership, and camaraderie through sports,” added Chaudhary.
Emphasizing student participation, Dr. Sangeeta Jauhari, Registrar, RNTU, remarked:“Hosting this national dialogue empowers our students and budding sports champions to connect directly with the Prime Minister’s vision. It offers an invaluable opportunity to engage deeply with key stakeholders on sports governance and nation-building. We invite our entire academic community and the youth of the region to participate actively.”
