CM Prem Singh Tamang Flags Off CM 5-Km Run to Mark National Sports Day

 

New Delhi, Aug 30: Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang flagged off the CM 5-Km Run organised under the auspices of the SKM Sports Wing, in collaboration with the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Sikkim, to commemorate National Sports Day and pay tribute to legendary Indian hockey player Major Dhyan Chand.

The run witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 500 participants, reflecting Sikkim’s growing spirit of fitness, sportsmanship and healthy living.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by the Hon’ble Minister for Education and Sports, Hon’ble MLA of Syari Constituency, Hon’ble MLA of Gangtok Constituency, Advisor, Sports & Youth Affairs, Mayor of Gangtok Municipal Corporation, Chairman, State Sports Development Board, Chairman, State Youth Development Board, Advisors, dignitaries, senior officials, sports personalities and enthusiastic participants, along with members of the SKM Sports Wing.

The event served as a celebration of sportsmanship, fitness, discipline and healthy living, while honouring the enduring legacy of Major Dhyan Chand and his invaluable contribution to Indian sports. It also reaffirmed the collective commitment towards nurturing a strong sporting culture in Sikkim and encouraging the youth to embrace fitness, discipline and active lifestyles.

The Chief Minister expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the organisers, volunteers, participants and all those associated with the successful conduct of the run. He emphasised that the spirit of sportsmanship should continue to inspire the youth to strive for excellence and bring greater glory to Sikkim and the nation.
