Mumbai, May 7: Prime Video, India’s leading entertainment destination, has officially announced that Season 2 of its acclaimed Original drama series Matka King is currently in development, following the overwhelming success of Season 1.
Set against the dynamic backdrop of 1960s Bombay, Matka King captivated audiences with its gripping narrative centered around ambition, power, and identity. The series emerged as the most-watched new scripted series on the platform over the last two years, trending in the Top 10 across 37 countries and securing the No.1 position in 17 countries during its opening week.
Created and written by Abhay Koranne, and created, written, and directed by Nagraj Popatrao Manjule, the series was produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, Nagraj Popatrao Manjule, Gargi Kulkarni, Ashwini Sidwani, and Ashish Aryan under the banners of Roy Kapur Films, Aatpat, and SMR Entertainment.
Season 1 featured Vijay Varma in the lead role alongside Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Siddharth Jadhav, Bhupendra Jadawat, and Gulshan Grover, supported by an ensemble cast including Bharat Jadhav, Girish Kulkarni, Jamie Lever, Kishor Kadam, Cyrus Sahukar, Arpita Sethiya, Sambhaji Tangade, Ishtiyak Khan, Sanjivv Jotangia, and Simran Ashwini.
Launched on April 17, Matka King Season 1 is currently streaming exclusively on Prime Video across India and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
With the return of Brij Bhatti and the high-stakes world of Matka, the upcoming season promises to raise the stakes even further, continuing the saga of power, risk, and survival.
