New Delhi, July 17: Reinforcing its vision of ensuring equitable access to quality education and empowering the youth of the State, Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang Golay has launched the CM-SAATHI Initiative, a landmark education programme designed to support students preparing for national-level competitive examinations at Samman Bhawan virtually on Thursday.

Implemented in collaboration with IIT Kanpur under the Government of India’s SATHEE Initiative, CM-SAATHI will provide free, high-quality coaching and academic support for JEE and NEET aspirants across Sikkim. The programme offers expert video lectures, comprehensive study materials, mock tests, practice questions, doubt-resolution support, and technology-enabled learning resources, ensuring that quality coaching reaches students in their homes and schools, irrespective of their financial background.
Building upon the success of the Lakshya Centre of Excellence, CM-SAATHI marks another major steep in the State Government’s efforts to ensure that no deserving student is deprived of opportunities due to limited resources. More than 2,000 students from over 40 Government and private schools across Sikkim are expected to benefit from the initiative. In addition to supporting students, the programme will strengthen the professional capabilities of Science and Mathematics teachers through academic collaboration and capacity-building with IIT Kanpur.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also urged the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and IIT Kanpur to explore the possibility of extending similar academic support to students preparing for other national-level competitive examinations, including CUET, CLAT, NDA, UPSC Foundation, and other entrance examinations, thereby broadening opportunities for students across diverse academic streams.
During his address, the Chief Minister encouraged them to dream big, remain disciplined, and make full use of the opportunities provided through CM-SAATHI. He also called upon school principals, teachers, and parents to continue guiding and motivating students in their pursuit of academic excellence.
The Government of Sikkim expressed its sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Education, Government of India, IIT Kanpur, the SATHEE team, and all officers and officials of the Education Department whose support and dedication made the initiative possible.
Describing CM-SAATHI as more than an educational programme, the Chief Minister stated that it is an investment in the aspirations of Sikkim’s youth and the future of the State. The initiative reflects the Government’s vision of nurturing a new generation of doctors, engineers, scientists, innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders who will contribute meaningfully to the progress of Sikkim and the nation.
