NEW DELHI, India – Oct. 7, 2025 – What’s new: NXP Semiconductors today announced that its Trimension Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology enables Jedsy X medical delivery drones. Jedsy is the first company in the world to dock directly at windows or balconies with delivery drones, allowing for quicker and easier dispatch of medical goods. Designed to rapidly bring essential medical supplies and life-saving medicines to urban or remote areas, Jedsy drones leverage NXP’s Trimension SR150 to detect the drone’s precise location, enabling more challenging maneuvers, such as landing at building windows.
Why it matters: Healthcare is often at the forefront of new technology, leveraging groundbreaking features in new ways to save lives. UWB technology enables many of these innovations, from precision drone landings on the side of a building, to fall detection in elder care settings.
“The precision, security and accuracy of UWB-based location or motion tracking offers a number of benefits in medical applications,” said Jerome Legros, Vice President, Secure Embedded Transactions, NXP. “Jedsy’s UWB-enabled drone makes it easier to deliver medical supplies directly where they are needed. In other settings, UWB could be used to monitor the patient’s vitals in real-time, without the need for intrusive cameras or equipment, or determine the location of an important piece of hospital equipment.”
“Jedsy is dedicated to ensuring that life-saving treatments and essential medical supplies are able to reach those who need them,” said Christian Bredemeier, CEO, Jedsy. “UWB technology has given the Jedsy X drone the precision required to be able to land where it’s needed – whether that’s in a rural field or on the side of a building in an urban city center.”
More details: The Trimension SR150 is part of one of the industry’s broadest UWB portfolios, spanning automotive, mobile and IoT applications. The Trimension portfolio leverages short-range UWB radar, secure UWB ranging, angle-of-arrival data and more to enable precise location detection, as well as motion detection. This makes UWB suitable for a variety of healthcare applications, ranging from occupancy detection and patient monitoring to asset mapping, access control and more.
