Kolkata, 15th November, 2024: ILS Hospitals, Howrah, organised Walkathon 2024 in observance of World Diabetes Day, drawing over more than 200 enthusiastic participants, all committed to promote a healthier future.
The event was inaugurated by Mr Debashis Dhar, Group Vice President – Business Development, ILS Hospitals, along with Dr. Mohua Golder (COO).
“This year’s theme, ‘Diabetes and Well-being’, highlights the vital role of community support and the importance of social, physical and mental well-being in both managing and preventing diabetes. Walkathon 2024 seeks to raise awareness about diabetes in our society, emphasizing the lifelong care it requires and the invaluable support that families provide. We acknowledge and appreciate the role families play in helping individuals lead healthier lives and combat this condition”, said Mr Debashis Dhar, Group Vice President, Business Development, ILS Hospitals.
“Today, even without a family history, many individuals are at risk for diabetes due to sedentary lifestyles. This condition can lead to serious complications, including kidney failure, vision loss and limb amputation. Making conscious choices toward a balanced diet, regular exercise and an active lifestyle can significantly lower the risk of diabetes”, said Dr. Mohua Golder (COO).
Starting from ILS Hospitals, Howrah, the walk traced a route through key areas like Salkia Flyover, Howrah Station Road and Salkia School Road, before concluding back at the hospital. Participants carried digital candles as a symbol of their shared commitment to dispel diabetes and held placards that conveyed various messages on diabetes awareness and prevention.
