In a remarkable initiative to honor India’s medal winners at the Paris Olympics, Smiling Tree, in partnership with Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology (GTBIT), organized a tree plantation drive yesterday. The event celebrated the achievements of Indian shooting champions Manu Bhaker, Sarabjot Singh, and Swapnil Kusale, who each won bronze medals, by planting 230 saplings on the GTBIT campus.
The event was attended by S. Amarjeet Singh, Chairman of GTBIT, Dr. Rominder Randhawa, Director of GTBIT, and other faculty members, all of whom actively participated in the drive. Their involvement highlighted the institute’s dedication to environmental sustainability and honoring the achievements of the nation’s sports heroes.
Dr. Mukesh Kwatra, Founder of Smiling Tree, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “Our athletes have made the nation proud with their outstanding performances at the Paris Olympics. This plantation drive is our way of celebrating their achievements and contributing to a greener planet. We believe in the power of nature to inspire and bring about positive change, and this is our tribute to their hard work and dedication.”
Continuing this momentum, Smiling Tree has pledged to plant 100 saplings for every medal won by India at the Paris Olympics. The next phase of the drive is scheduled for tomorrow, 15th August, at Som Vihar, where an additional 100 saplings will be planted in honor of the medal winners.
This initiative not only highlights the achievements of Indian athletes but also emphasizes the importance of environmental conservation. Smiling Tree remains committed to creating a sustainable future through its ongoing efforts to green our cities and celebrate our champions.
