The LALIGA Youth Tournament is the world’s first official youth football tournament endorsed and supported by LALIGA—the premier Spanish football league and home to clubs like Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. The tournament follows a league-cum-knockout format and will feature teams from 10 countries, including Spain, China, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Thailand, and Korea.
Before selection, a high-stakes qualifying tournament was held in Hyderabad, witnessing participation from 16 teams and over 300 U-16 players. The top 16 performers were chosen to form the Indian team, informed Agha Muzaffaruddin, Coach and Manager of the team. “We will first face Spain, followed by Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand,” he said.
Started in 2021, the LALIGA Youth Tournament has rapidly become a premier platform for elite Asian youth teams to compete, network, and experience international football in a carnival-like atmosphere. With Spain recently clinching Euro 2024 and the Olympic men’s football gold medal, LALIGA’s brand of football is in the global spotlight—and this tournament offers a taste of that excellence.
This tournament promises unmatched exposure, experience, and excitement for young Indian footballers, especially for the rising stars from Hyderabad.
