Bengaluru, September 26, 2025: Canara Bank, a leading public sector bank in India, today organized a Swachhata cleanliness drive under the “Ek Din Ek Ghanta Ek Saath ” initiative, a flagship program of the Government of India’s Swachh Bharat Mission. The event is hosted every year during the second week of September to culminate on 02nd October, being observed as Swachh Bharat Diwas. This year, the Department of Financial Services, Govt. of Bharat, had advised all PSU’s and other Govt Institutions to conduct shramdan activity on 25th Sept 2025 at 8.00 am, terming it “Ek Din Ek Ghanta Ek Saath”.
Accordingly, Canara Bank had conducted shramdan activity on 25.09.2025 at Banashankari II Stage, Bengaluru. The event saw active participation from bank employees, who worked together to clean public spaces, collect waste, and promote awareness about the importance of cleanliness. The employees along with local public joined the initiative and cleaned the surrounding area of about 1 km for one hour. The initiative was well-received by the community, with many locals participating and appreciating the bank’s efforts. The Safai Mitra’s were thanked and felicitated for the commitment to cleanliness.
The MD & CEO of the Bank, Sri Satyanarayana Raju, and Top Management of the Bank actively participated in the drive. Speaking on the occasion, Sri Satyanarayana Raju said, “At Canara Bank, we believe in giving back to the community and contributing to the nation’s development. Our participation in the ‘Ek Din Ek Ghanta Ek Saath ‘ initiative is a testament to our commitment to social responsibility and sustainability. The Swachhata drive is part of the bank’s broader CSR initiatives, which focus on promoting environmental sustainability, community development, and social welfare. Through this initiative, Canara Bank aims to not only contribute to the cleanliness of the environment but also raise awareness about the importance of hygiene and sanitation among the community.
