Bundesliga is turning out to be the highest-scoring major football league in 2024/25. With more than a quarter of the ongoing season already over, Sportscasting.com compared the goalscoring rates in the five major European leagues. As per the comparison, the Bundesliga has witnessed the most goals on average so far, with 3.2 goals in every game.
La Liga at the opposite end with just 2.5 goals per game
The football season is in full flow, and it is only going to shift into top gear following the conclusion of the final international break of 2024.
As things stand, the ongoing season is past the quarter-mark in all top European leagues, and the trends have started to emerge. When it comes to the goalscoring rate, the Bundesliga has raced ahead of the other major European leagues.
There have been 90 games in the Bundesliga season so far, and they have resulted in 288 goals, at the rate of 3.2 goals per game. Bayern Munich, in particular, have been prolific with goals and have already scored 33 times in their first ten games.
Ligue 1 occupies the next spot with an average of 3.02 goals per game. The top tier of the French league has witnessed 299 goals in 99 goals so far this season. Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille have been ruling the scoring charts in the league with 33 and 24 goals, respectively.
The English Premier League sits in the middle among the top five leagues. The Premier League sides have scored 314 goals in 110 games so far. The scoring rate in the league currently stands at 2.85 goals per game. Manchester City are the highest scorers with 22 goals, closely followed by Liverpool and Chelsea with 21 goals each.
Serie A is next, with an average of 2.76 goals per game. So far, the Italian teams have scored 328 goals in 119 games. Surprisingly, Atalanta have been the highest scorers so far, scoring 31 goals, while Inter is far behind at 26 goals.
Spanish football is known for its attacking flair, but it’s been a different story with La Liga so far this season. The top tier of Spanish football has produced just 319 goals in 127 games so far, at the rate of 2.51 goals per game. Barcelona have been the clear leader in the league with 40 goals, while no other team has scored more than 25.
