Mumbai, 28th July 2025: On the eve of World Head & Neck Cancer Day, which is celebrated on July 27th every year, HCG ICS Khubchandani Cancer Centre, Colaba, hosted a special Cancer Survivor Meet 2025, where more than 100 head and neck cancer survivors and their family members came together. The occasion was to mark their outstanding recovery stories and re-emphasize the hospital’s mission of holistic cancer treatment and patient care.
The event was marked by motivational testimonials from survivors who had undergone complex surgeries and treatments led by the team under the guidance of Dr. Prashant Pawar. The survivors were able to give very strong accounts of their struggle with cancer and how they were able to take on life after cancer with a lot of courage, optimism, and hope.
As a sign of its patient-first philosophy, HCG ICS Khubchandani Cancer Centre has treated more than 50 underprivileged patients who have been fighting head and neck cancer. This is all possible with the help of the constant support of the famous trusts such as Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA), Madat Charitable Trust, Tata Trusts, and Chief Minister Relief Fund.
Dr. Prashant Pawar, Senior Consultant – Head & Neck Oncology, HCG ICS Khubchandani Cancer Centre, Colaba, emphasized the importance of awareness and early intervention: “Head and neck cancers are not limited to tobacco users anymore. There is a gradual increase in the number of cases in non-tobacco users. This is why early diagnosis and early treatment are even more important. Such events not only mark survival but also inform the population about the necessity of screening and early visits.”
Mr. George Alex, Western India Regional Business Head at HealthCare Global Enterprises (HCG), underscored the broader vision behind such initiatives: “At HCG, we do not feel that cancer is a death sentence; it can be cured early when detected and treated. Events such as the Survivor Meet are crucial in dispelling the stigma around cancer, motivating the community, and hammering home the point that life goes on after cancer. Our mission is to make a lasting difference by providing hope, raising awareness, and making sure that no one is alone in to fight against cancer.”
Mr. Nishant Jaiswal, Chief Operating Officer, HCG ICS Khubchandani Cancer Centre, Colaba, reiterated the institution’s patient-centric ethos: “We have always been on a mission to provide compassionate world-class cancer care. This survivor meet is not only a celebration of medical milestones but also a pledge to our efforts to ensure quality treatment becomes affordable to any patient irrespective of his or her financial status.”
The event ended with a feeling of thankfulness and unity, as everyone was reminded that each story of a survivor is supported by a team of caring medical workers, the help of caring organizations, and the strength of the human will.
