Scope Global Skills University among the select institutions in India to receive “Awarding Body” recognition from NCVET

08th September 2025: Scope Global Skills University (SGSU), established by AISECT as Central India’s first skills-focused university, has been formally recognized as an Awarding Body by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET). NCVET, the apex regulator for skill development in India under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, is responsible for setting standards, ensuring quality, and bringing uniformity to the country’s vocational education and training ecosystem. An NCVET-approved awarding body has the authority to design new courses and qualifications aligned with industry needs and to certify students in these qualifications, thereby enhancing their employment opportunities.

The recognition places SGSU among a select group of universities in India authorized to directly certify learners under NCVET’s framework. It strengthens SGSU’s long-standing commitment to skill-based education and its vision of bridging formal education with employability pathways.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Siddharth Chaturvedi, Chancellor, SGSU, said, “This recognition underscores the importance of standardization and quality benchmarks in skill education. With NCVET’s recognition, the focus can now shift toward creating qualifications that not only meet industry expectations but also advance national priorities in workforce development.”

“NCVET-recognized awarding bodies play a crucial role in strengthening the skill development ecosystem. By setting standards and ensuring the quality of training programs, they help equip youth with industry-relevant skills that enhance their employability. In addition, these awarding bodies have the authority to design new qualifications in line with industry requirements and certify students in those qualifications, thereby creating stronger pathways to employment.” He added.

Dr. Vijay Singh, Vice Chancellor, SGSU, added, “Our next step is to strengthen partnerships with industry while aligning programmes with emerging sectors such as IT, renewable energy, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing. To support this vision, the university has established state-of-the-art Centres of Excellence in areas including Internet of Things, Automotive Technology, and Renewable Energy.”

Highlighting industry collaborations, Dr. Sitesh Kumar Sinha, Registrar, SGSU, said, “Our specialised laboratories and partnerships with leading companies such as Lucas-Nuelle and Hero provide students with practical training and real-world exposure. This recognition positions SGSU to play a key role in India’s evolving skill development ecosystem.”

Building on this achievement, SGSU aims to broaden access to skill-based higher education while strengthening industry linkages. The university has already invested in Centres of Excellence covering areas such as Internet of Things, Automotive Technology, Welding Technology, Precision Engineering, Renewable Energy, Animation Multimedia & Gaming (AVGC), and AR/VR. Supported by advanced labs and collaborations with industry leaders like Lucas Nuelle and Hero, SGSU ensures learners receive practical, hands-on training that complements academic instruction.

The recognition empowers SGSU to play a pivotal role in shaping India’s skilling ecosystem. By equipping learners with industry-recognized qualifications and creating stronger academia–industry linkages, SGSU invites stakeholders, partners, and youth to join this mission of building a future-ready workforce and driving inclusive growth across the nation.
