Hyderabad, Mar 31: NICMAR University, Hyderabad, hosted the Regional Finale of the Bharat Nav-Nirmaan Challenge, bringing together some of the brightest student innovators shaping the future of India’s built environment.

After a rigorous multi-city journey spanning 11 cities, the top three teams from Hyderabad, Kochi, Chennai and Bengaluru competed at the Hyderabad finale. The regional competition tested participants on real-world infrastructure challenges, innovation under pressure, and practical problem-solving.
Underscoring the evolving nature of engineering and infrastructure education, where classroom knowledge meets on-ground application, the margin between each competing team narrowed significantly at each stage of the competition, highlighting the high calibre talent and competitiveness of the Bharat Nav-Nirmaan Challenge.
Congratulating the winners, Dr Tapash Kumar Ganguli, Director General, NICMAR said,
“Continuing the momentum from our regional round finale in Pune, these winners in Hyderabad showcased that the youth in our nation have the zeal to innovate and develop a future-ready nation in the build environment. The Bharat Nav-Nirmaan Challenge is created to provide a space to highlight the hidden talent and capabilities. The level of competition we witnessed at the Hyderabad Regional Finale reinforces that India’s infrastructure future is in capable hands.”
Winners of Hyderabad Regional Finale:
- 1st Place: Maturi Venkata Subba Rao (MVSR) Engineering College
- 2nd Place: Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore
- 3rd Place: Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore, TN
Additionally, the competition was evaluated by an eminent panel of industry experts, which included Ms. Lopamudra Panda, Head – Government Advisory, South Asia (Valuation and Professional Services) – Savills; Mr. Tushar Deochakke, Managing Director – GFFI Capital Inc and Mr. Shridhar Reddy, Architect and Visiting faculty.
Furthermore, the event was graced by Mr. N. R. Acharyulu, Former COO, CBDO, Independent Director, HCC Ltd, Mumbai.
With the Hyderabad Regional Finale concluded, the Bharat Nav-Nirmaan Challenge continues its momentum across other cities, with the last regional finale to be held in New Delhi. Each regional round aims to bring the competition closer to identifying India’s most promising infrastructure innovators and young minds capable of addressing the country’s rapidly evolving urban and infrastructure challenges.
