War Hero to Healthcare Visionary, Lt. Gen. Ashok Kumar Jindal Inspires IIM Raipur’s New Batch of Emerging Managers Bootcamp

Mumbai, July 03rd, 2025: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur, a leading institution recognized for #BuildingBusinessOwners, successfully concluded its 8 days-long Emerging Managers Bootcamp, held from 22nd -29th June for the incoming 2025–2027 batch. The bootcamp was designed to nurture managerial capabilities, ethical sensibilities, and community consciousness among India’s future business leaders.

The valedictory event was graced by Lt. General Ashok Kumar Jindal, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Raipur, and recipient of honourable accolades like the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM), and the first doctor in India to receive the Yudh Seva Medal for his distinguished service in war.

Drawing from his inspiring military and medical journey, LtGen. Jindal urged the budding managers to “Put ethics above profit motives in healthcare” and work towards the betterment of the community; he also implored the students to explore the avenue of digital twin modelling in healthcare to come up with innovative solutions, and the laid the importance of ‘organ donation.’

Joining the valediction were IIM Raipur’s esteemed faculty, including Prof. Ram Kumar KakaniDirector, IIM Raipur,  Prof. Satyasiba Das, and Prof. Diptiman Banerjee, who reflected on how leadership in today’s complex world demands not just competence in managing people or processes, but resilience, vision, and unwavering commitment to serve.

Prof. Ram Kumar Kakani, Director, IIM Raipur, reflected on the essence of the Bootcamp by stating, “In a world that rewards speed, we at IIM Raipur believe in building depth. The Emerging Managers Bootcamp isn’t just about breaking the ice; it’s about breaking mental barriers. It fosters a mindset shift from individual excellence to collective purpose, and from learning to serving. This is where leadership begins in silence, in sweat, and in service.”

The Bootcamp facilitation included retired IAS, IPS, and IRS officers of high repute, including medal winners. It also featured corporate experts with a cumulative CXO-level management experience of over 100 years, such as Dr. Pushp Kumar Joshi, Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra, Shri Vinod P. Menon, Shri Satish Anand, Shri Mahankali Srinivas Rao, Shri Sandeep Roy, Shri Rakesh Misri, and Ms. Poornima Dore.
