More than 66,000 Amazon volunteers help communities at 530 events across India

Chandigarh, 10th July 2025: Amazon India today announced strong participation in its Global Month of Volunteering (GMV) in May 2025, with more than 66,000 employees across the country contributing their time and skills to community initiatives. During GMV 2025, team members volunteered at 530 unique events in more than 60 cities nationwide, spanning in-office, on-ground, and virtual formats. These efforts, facilitated through partnerships with over 100 non-profit organizations, focused on key areas like women’s empowerment, sustainability, education, food security, inclusion, and hyperlocal support, reflecting Amazon’s commitment to support the communities where we live and work.

Samir Kumar, Country Manager, Amazon India said, “The power of volunteering extends far beyond a single day of service, it creates lasting change in our communities and within ourselves. I witnessed this firsthand while working alongside fellow Amazonians to transform a local school in Bengaluru, where we repurposed discarded materials into colorful learning aids and painted walls and pillars that now brighten the learning environment. This year, with more than 66,000 team members volunteering across 60 cities, we are building a true culture of service at Amazon India. From constructing floating wetlands that restore urban lakes to setting up community kitchens that served nearly 200,000 meals, our people are applying Amazon’s innovation mindset to address pressing community challenges. When we combine our company’s scale with our employees’ passion and creativity, the ripple effects transform both neighborhoods and lives.”

Amazon’s volunteering initiatives made a tangible difference across communities, delivering over 100,000 resource kits that supported the improvement areas in focus for the year. The kits include Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) kits, sports kits, menstrual kits, first-aid kits, stationery kits, dog care kits, science models, assembly of quiz boards and bicycles among several others.

In Hyderabad and Bengaluru, volunteers set up Amazon Community Kitchens, producing close to 200,000 meals. This involved more than 600 Amazon volunteers coming together to prepare and serve hot, nourishing langar-style free meals, building a strong sense of community and shared purpose.

A new initiative named Project Blue connected volunteers to Amazon’s ongoing sustainability efforts through continued interventions to restore three lakes along with the creation of floating wetlands in city of Bengaluru. Participants assembled floating platforms and planted Canna indica, a resilient aquatic plant that helps restore the urban lake ecosystem.

Amulya Devalaraju, Associate, Customer Service Operations, Amazon India, said, “I truly enjoyed connecting with all the incredible people dedicated to supporting underserved communities. What I cherish most about volunteering is witnessing the pure joy of the children and individuals I have the opportunity to serve.”
