June 5 : Four athletes from Maharashtra made the state proud by bringing home bronze medal in under 17 Epee category organised by the Fencing Association of India at Rudrapur, Uttarakhand. The championship bouts were hosted at the Shivalik Hall in the Manohar Sarkar Stadium.

Kiara Purandare from Mumbai, Janhvi Jadhav from Latur, Vidhi Patil from Pune and Sarang Shetkar from Nashik represented Maharashtra in the 21st Cadet National Fencing Championship. Three of four participants took part in the bout. While Kiara and Janhvi scored 15 points each, Vidhi scored 13 points. The team performed well but lost to Haryana team.
The event witnessed more than 650 athletes representing 28 different states competing in the Foil, Épée, and Sabre categories. The tournament served as a vital competitive stage, with top-ranking athletes qualifying for broader national and international sporting circuits.
While Haryana secured the gold medal, Punjab team secured silver and Maharashtra brought home the bronze medal.
