Chennai, September 2, 2026: SRM Medical College and Research Institute has launched an advanced and comprehensive mobile cardiac unit to improve public access to cardiac screening and preventive heart care services.
The unit is aimed at facilitating early detection of cardiac conditions and preventive screening at a location convenient to patients, in addition to providing timely medical intervention during emergencies. The unit will also focus on raising awareness among the public about the importance of regular heart screening, particularly among individuals who are at higher cardiac risks.
The specially designed vehicle is equipped with two ECG machines and three echocardiogram (ECHO) machines, worth Rs 1.3 crore. The unit is sponsored by Rotary Club of Madras Central Aadithya, Rotary Club of Chennai K.K. Nagar, Rotary Club of Chennai Utsav and Rotary Club of Novena (Singapore), to strengthen access to cardiac care in the region.
The unit will reach the cardiac screening and preventive cardiac care services to people in residential communities, corporate organisations, and institutions. A highly trained team including medical and paramedical professionals will be present at the unit to conduct screenings and offer medical consultations based on the screening results. Individuals requiring further evaluation will be advised to visit the hospital.

Through this initiative, SRM is strengthening its commitment to accessible, timely and quality healthcare, particularly for patients who may face challenges in reaching advanced cardiac facilities. We hope this unit will enable early detection, preventive care and timely medical intervention, while creating greater awareness about heart health among the public.”
