Bengaluru, Nov 18: SecurEyes, a leading cybersecurity company, recently conducted a cybersecurity awareness session at GEAR Innovative International School, Bellandur, Bengaluru. The one-hour interactive program aimed to educate students on the importance of staying safe in today’s increasingly digital world.
Led by Mr. Karmendra Kohli, CEO & Co-founder of SecurEyes, and Mr. Mrutyunjay Sahoo, Technical Manager, the session blended real-life examples, live demonstrations, and practical guidance to help students understand the evolving landscape of online threats.
The initiative is part of SecurEyes’ broader mission to promote cyber hygiene and responsible digital behaviour among young internet users. Through engaging stories and interactive discussions, the speakers simplified complex cybersecurity concepts, encouraging students to adopt safer online habits.
During the session, Mr. Karmendra Kohli highlighted the importance of early awareness and critical thinking.
“That’s the world we live in—a digital jungle full of games, friends, fun… and a few hidden dangers too. Today, we’ll learn how to be smart digital explorers, not easy targets,” he said, urging students to view cybersecurity as a life skill.
Mr. Mrutyunjay Sahoo emphasized the need for awareness among digital-native students.
“Students today are digital natives, but awareness is what makes them truly secure. The more they understand how systems work, the more responsibly they can use them,” he noted.
Students remained highly engaged throughout, especially during live threat demonstrations such as the Cable of Chaos and Hidden Risk of USB scenarios, which showed how easily personal information can be compromised. The demonstrations sparked curiosity and led to thoughtful questions even after the session ended.
The presentation also covered essential cybersecurity dos and don’ts—from creating strong passwords and recognizing phishing links to identifying scam calls and social engineering attempts. Warning signs highlighted included urgent requests for action, OTP demands, unfamiliar numbers mimicking known voices, and unusual payment requests.
Actionable safety practices were shared as well, such as using pre-agreed family codewords to verify identities and returning calls on trusted numbers when in doubt.
With plans to reach more schools across Bengaluru, SecurEyes hopes to cultivate a generation that understands and practices cyber responsibility. The session at GEAR Innovative International School successfully sparked curiosity and awareness, reminding students that while the internet offers limitless possibilities, it also requires vigilance and informed decision-making.
As cybersecurity becomes an essential part of modern education, initiatives like these play a crucial role in equipping young learners with the knowledge and confidence to navigate the digital world safely.
