Following screenings at the Kolkata International Film Festival and the Jagran International Film Festival, the acclaimed Marathi short documentary Where The Heart Is is set for its next major showcase at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa this year. The film has been officially selected for the prestigious Indian Panorama section, marking another milestone in its festival journey.

Written and directed by Ulka Mayur, the documentary is produced by Mayur Puri, with Mannan Shaah and Ulka Mayur as co-producers. It had its international premiere last month at the International Film Festival of South Asia (IFFSA) in Toronto, receiving widespread acclaim.
Where The Heart Is follows Umesh Garate’s annual journey from Mumbai to his ancestral village for the Ganapati festival, capturing the warmth of family reunion and the evolving realities of migration. Through the Garate family’s homecoming, the film explores themes of belonging, memory, and the quiet transformation of rural homes.
“It’s heartening to see the film generating such positive buzz on the festival circuit. Our premiere in Toronto was truly special, and the response in India has been equally encouraging. I am honoured that the film will now be screened at IFFI and look forward to audiences experiencing it there,” said director Ulka Mayur.
The documentary will be screened on 23rd and 24th November 2025 at IFFI, Goa.
