Team India creates history at the BWF World Junior Championships 2025; Cairn Oil & Gas celebrates this landmark moment in Indian badminton
Guwahati, October 22, 2025: Team India scripted history at the YONEX SUNRISE BWF World Junior Badminton Championships 2025, held in Guwahati from October 6–19, with an inspiring all-round performance that showcased the depth and promise of India’s young badminton talent.

For the first time ever, India secured a bronze medal in the Mixed Team event (Suhandinata Cup), marking the country’s maiden podium finish in this category at the World Junior Championships. Adding to this achievement, India recorded a historic milestone with five Indian entries reaching the quarterfinals across different categories, the highest ever for the country in the tournament’s history.
In a stellar performance, Tanvi Sharma clinched the silver medal in the girls’ singles at the World Junior Championships, becoming the first Indian girl since Saina Nehwal (2008) to reach the final. Her remarkable achievement not only marks a proud moment for Indian badminton but also inspires a new generation of young shuttlers across the country.
