Kalpetta: The Manappuram Lions Dialysis Centre at Vaduvanchal, set up in association with the Lions Club International Foundation, was inaugurated on Sunday by V.P. Nandakumar, former International Director of Lions Club and Managing Director of Manappuram Finance Ltd.
The dialysis unit functions alongside the Wayanad Hospital established by the Lions Club. The hospital itself was inaugurated in the same day by Lions Club International President A.P. Sisngh. The Inaugural meeting was presided over by Multiple Council Chairperson Lion Rajan Namboothiri. Distribution of health cards to beneficiaries was launched by T. Siddique, MLA.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Nandakumar said Manappuram Finance had kept its promise to extend support to residents of the region who were affected by frequent landslides. The company would continue to provide financial assistance for the centre’s operations and facilitate the purchase of new dialysis machines whenever required, he said.
Lions Club Former International Director R. Murugan, Moopainad grama panchayat president R. Unnikrishnan, ward member Yashoda Chandran, and senior Lions officials including V. Amarnath and A.V. Vamanakumar offered felicitations.
Former International Directors Sangeetha Jatia, V.V. Krishna Reddy and Vijayakumar Raju were also present.
